COORDINATING AUTHORITY

The authority granted a commander or individual assigned responsibility for coordinating specific functions or activities involving forces of two or more countries, or two or more forces from the same Service. He has the
authority to require consultation between the agencies involved or their representatives, but does not have the authority to compel agreement. In case of disagreement between the agencies involved, he should attempt to obtain essential agreement by discussion. In the event he is unable to obtain essential agreement, he shall refer the matter to the appointing authority.
